Gakkai Meikan, or the scholarly society directory, presents information concerning major Japanese scholarly societies who work in cooperation with the Science Council of Japan. It lists basic information about activities, such as the number of members, frequency of publication, and meetings

The Japan Consortium for Area Studies consists of institutions and organisations that focus on areal studies.

CiNii is a bibliographic database service for scholarly literature published in Japan; it mainly contains post-WWII journal articles and bibliographical records from university libraries’ catalogues. CiNii is comprised of CiNii Articles and CiNii Books.

The Database of Japanese Intellectual History contains bibliographical information regarding Japanese intellectual history, from antiquity to the present day, published after 1965; data covers widely for example religions and ideologies.

Researchmap is a directory of researchers in Japan. It lists most of the researchers working at universities, national research institutions, and some private institutions. It also accepts registration from graduate students by request.

JICA Research Institute, a research section of the Japan International Cooperation Agency, focuses on supporting developing countries. The institute provides its publications as well as some data sets.
