The World Digital Library is a collaborative project aiming to provide primary materials from all countries and cultures. In terms of Japanese materials, this library offers materials mainly from the pre-modern period such as: maps, Buddhist canons, fine arts, literature, natural history, and historical documents. The main contributors are Library of Congress (US) and the National Diet Library of Japan
